POD APPROACH
​There are many advantages of POD-based transit.  The definitive reason for use with Towed Platforms is that lateral-extended lifting body surfaces may interfere with access to a cabin/compartment/POD.  The solution is to remove the Towed Platform from the POD for loading and unloading. 
Many advantages escalate in a POD-based architecture; not the least of which is the versatility of using a single platform size/design for many applications.  By example, a series of 5 platforms can be equipped with 5 different types of PODs to create 25 different aircraft.  Also, POD passenger cabins can reduce airport sizes where PODs can be loaded/unloaded inside a building then moved to a drone-attachment site by an elevator or wheeled-vehicle.    Below is a 2-person deployment/retrieval drone including ability to winch deploy/retrieve the pod.
